While the media and media critics have been celebrating Gethard’s decision, a significant percentage of the crowd went through with their protest to give him the right to speak as a representative of NSW’s Indigenous people.

A large part of this crowd is comprised of young Indigenous women, women and young girls from across the state, who were on a Sunday afternoon to take part in a rally against the government’s plans to introduce a $5 billion gas station on the edge of Yarraville.

„Gethard wants to put a gas station on our land, and we will stand up for it,“ Indigenous activist Niamh Nair said. „So why are we here? We’re here because of the gas gta5카지노station. And if we have an opportunity to stand up in solidarity, we’re going to do it.“

As they chanted „Gethard Out“, the large number of women in the crowd cheered the Indigenous woman as she led them into the back of a van with the name stenciled on the side: the Aboriginal National Congress for Gasoline, a group that supports Gethard’s campaign.

An elderly mother, who has lived in the same house for generations, said she has lost a job to pay for the gas station to be built on her property.

„It will be bad for me,“ she said. „They can’t tell me what to do.“

The Indigenous activist, who did not want her full name published, was joined by two younger members of the rally. They both attended the rally and are also involved in environmental and Indigenous matters. Both spoke of living on a reserve land surrounded by „gorgeous“ gas stations that could turn into major industrial centres that could harm their families and communities.
