While Coach has undergone a number of rebrands over time, it’s remained true to its heritage. London-based model Burberry sparked backlash after it was revealed in 2018 that it had burned $37 million price of products. In a press release at the time, a Burberry spokesperson mentioned it has „careful processes in place to minimise the amount of extra inventory we produce.“ Some corporations have used the tactic to guard their model image by stopping unsold merchandise from ending up in thrift or low cost shops.
